About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee Special Services delivery and compliance for IEP, 504, and MLL services
- Maintain ownership of SESIS accuracy and audit readiness
- Manage Special Education teachers, paraprofessionals, and service providers
- Observe classroom implementation and provide feedback on specialized instructional techniques
- Lead IEP meetings, reevaluations, and legally required meetings
- Manage high-stakes family communication regarding student services and placement
- Oversee school-based MTSS systems, including academic and behavioral data cycles
- Partner with school leadership and network teams to integrate Special Services into the instructional vision
Requirements
- Advanced degree in a relevant field
- Current or eligible NY certification in Special Education
- Expertise in IDEA, Section 504, and NYSED regulations
- Experience leading Special Education teams
- Strong systems leadership and compliance management skills
- Excellent communication skills for high-stakes family and legal meetings
