Special Procedures Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide technically complex and high-risk nursing care, including sedation, intravenous infusions, and complex procedures such as lumbar puncture or cardiac catheterization.
• Perform specialized monitoring during the procedure and recovery phases.
• Accurately complete patient assessments, documentation, and interpretations for each encounter.
• Recognize patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiate appropriate life-supporting interventions.
• Maintain nursing equipment, work areas, and emergency supplies in proper working order.
• Interface with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities for the assigned unit as required.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois.
• Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Ability to work onsite at the Hyde Park campus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• 2 to 3 years of recent Critical Care, Emergency Room, or Oncology nursing experience.
• Leadership or management experience within a specialty area.
• Experience working in a research environment.
• One additional specialty certification.
