About the Company

The Nassau County District Attorney's Office investigates and prosecutes violations of state and local criminal statutes occurring within Nassau County. With nearly 200 attorneys and a total staff in excess of 400, it is one of the largest district attorney's offices in the country.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct specialized, multi-layered investigative work collecting evidence of organized criminal activity
  • Analyze complaints, intelligence, and information from individuals and law enforcement agencies
  • Coordinate and develop investigative strategies with other law enforcement agencies
  • Implement strategies through the application for search warrants and wiretapping/eavesdropping warrants
  • Perform undercover investigations including surveillance and utilization of technical equipment
  • Preserve and secure evidence to prevent tampering and ensure court admissibility
  • Participate in the instruction and training of investigative personnel
  • Make arrests and participate in the prosecution of defendants
  • Assist with grand jury, hearing, and trial preparation by interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence
  • Testify before grand jury, hearings, or trials
  • Maintain records and prepare reports

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university
  • Seven years of satisfactory experience in criminal investigation work as a sworn police officer in the State of New York or a federal law enforcement officer
  • Five years of that experience must be exclusively in specialized organized crime investigation (firearms, narcotics, sex-trafficking, forged instruments, or computer scams)
  • Experience in excess of the seven-year requirement may be substituted for college education on a year-for-year basis
