About the role

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients with musculoskeletal conditions, providing neuro-musculoskeletal injury care for Special Operations Forces (SOF) personnel.
  • Utilize supplemental clinical privileges including ordering images, laboratory tests, pharmaceuticals, dry needling, acupuncture, and joint injections.
  • Supervise PT Technicians, PT Assistants, and Certified Athletic Trainers within their scope of practice.
  • Serve as an advisor to the HP Program Manager regarding sports medicine, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and human performance research.
  • Conduct equipment, product, and literature reviews to ensure the program remains current with modern standards of care.
  • Document all patient care and encounters in the Military’s Electronic Health Record (e.g., AHLTA, MHS GENESIS) and enterprise databases.
  • Assist in developing clinical practice guidelines and performance standards to ensure consistency of care.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain or maintain a Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Master's degree in Physical Therapy.
  • ABPTS OCS or SCS certification, or NATA ATC certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in manual therapy within a sports medicine field.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of SOF training, including hiking over rough terrain and functioning in austere environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Prior military or Special Operations Forces (SOF) experience.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential through the NSCA.
