About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide nutritional planning, counseling, and documentation guided by evidence-based literature to optimize performance and recovery for SOF personnel.
- Design and implement performance nutrition programs for personnel in Garrison, TAD/TDY, and deployed settings.
- Advise the chain of command and medical personnel on issues regarding nutrition, supplements, and performance-enhancing substances.
- Develop nutritional protocols and guidelines for rehabilitation and performance.
- Serve as a liaison between food services and command to advise on dining facility and galley nutrition.
- Perform administrative duties, including maintaining workload records and utilizing electronic health records (e.g., MHS GENESIS).
- Assist with supply inventories and ensure sports nutrition specific supplies and equipment are available and in safe working condition.
Requirements
- US Citizenship.
- Secret or Top Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain).
- Master's degree in Nutrition Science or a related field.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) certification.
- Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) certification (or ability to earn within six months of employment).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Performance Dietitian with elite athletes (NCAA Division I, Olympic, professional, or SOF).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including hiking over rough terrain in austere environments and lifting up to 25 kilograms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior military or Special Operations Forces (SOF) experience.
- Certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
