About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide nutritional planning, counseling, and documentation guided by evidence-based peer-reviewed literature.
  • Design and implement performance nutrition programs for SOF personnel in Garrison, TAD/TDY, and deployed settings.
  • Advise the chain of command on issues pertinent to nutrition and performance nutrition.
  • Develop nutritional protocols and guidelines for rehabilitation and performance.
  • Serve as an advisor on dining facility/galley nutrition and act as a liaison between food service and command.
  • Advise on supplementary nutrition, supplements, and performance-enhancing substances.
  • Perform administrative duties, including maintaining workload records and participating in clinical quality assurance.
  • Document all encounters and referrals using Military Electronic Health Records (e.g., MHS GENESIS).

Requirements

  • US Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
  • Master's degree in Nutrition Science or a related field.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification from the American Dietetic Association.
  • Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) certification (or ability to earn within six months).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Performance Dietitian with elite athletes or SOF operators.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Fluent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Physical capability to hike over rough terrain, function in austere environments, and lift up to 25 kilograms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior military and/or Special Operations Forces (SOF) experience.
  • Certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
