About the role

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, develop, and evaluate programs and services that contribute to the resiliency of assigned military units and their families.
  • Organize and oversee peer support networks, including recruiting, vetting, and training active duty and family member peer support counselors.
  • Collect and report data for formative and outcome evaluations of peer support and community-based programs.
  • Identify and document program needs to develop needs-based programming for specific demographic groups and geographic locations.
  • Serve as a liaison for the Commander on matters related to community and family support.
  • Support family orientation, pre- and post-deployment preparation, reintegration, and career transition programs.
  • Implement social, family, and psychological programs, including suicide prevention and cognitive agility training.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of DoD resources such as Military OneSource, MFLC, and the Military Crisis Line.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, human/social services, or a related field, OR four years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in social service education or work/family life consultation and coordination services.
  • Willingness to receive specialized training in peer support counseling, community resources, and suicide prevention.
  • Ability to maintain current knowledge of best practices in peer support and DoD-sponsored resiliency resources.
