The Nassau County District Attorney's Office investigates and prosecutes violations of state and local criminal statutes occurring within Nassau County. Responsibilities

• Perform investigative work collecting and assisting in the preparation of evidence for Grand Jury presentation
• Conduct routine surveillance of suspected persons and places
• Contact informants and develop sources of information
• Conduct routine undercover work, raids, interrogation of witnesses, execution of warrants, and arrests
• Interview witnesses and subjects
• Use investigative apparatus such as electronic or photographic equipment
• Testify in court proceedings

Requirements

• High school graduation
• Ten years of satisfactory experience in criminal investigation work as a sworn police officer in the State of New York
• Five years of exclusive experience in the specialized field of investigation of index crimes
• Extensive knowledge of homicide, Medicaid fraud, civil forfeiture, collision investigation, or law enforcement crimes analysis
• Considerable knowledge of the basic rules of evidence
• Knowledge of applicable New York State statutes and court decisions
• Skill in the use and care of firearms and unarmed defense
• Ability to prepare detailed reports
