Special Education Teacher

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of up to 10 students within a classroom setting
• Implement academic and behavioral programming based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
• Oversee the implementation of each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)
• Provide direct supervision and delegate responsibilities to Instructional Assistants and ABA Therapists
• Collaborate with BCBAs and other team members to develop and implement student programming
• Utilize evidence-based instruction and data-based decision making to maximize student success

Requirements

• CT certification in special education, DSAP, or Long-Term Substitute eligibility
• Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Precision Teaching, or Direct Instruction
• Experience working with students exhibiting challenging behaviors
• Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience
• Basic computer skills
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to remain composed and adherent to best practices under duress

• Experience using Therap software
