About the role

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all students receive necessary educational services
  • Identify special education needs through family questionnaires and intake assessments
  • Schedule and provide pull-out services as needed
  • Chair team and pre-referral meetings
  • Conduct academic testing, classroom observations, and psychological testing
  • Ensure regular education teachers understand IEP classroom accommodations
  • Deliver one-on-one, small group, and whole class instruction
  • Maintain student records and prepare reports for regulatory agencies
  • Ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal special education laws
  • Contribute to curriculum design and administer standards-based assessments
  • Collaborate with staff and administrators to support student success

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Special Education teaching certification required
  • Massachusetts special education license with passing MTELs (Communication & Literacy, SEI Endorsement, Subject Specific)
  • Moderate Disabilities license
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience in urban public or charter school setting preferred
