Special Education Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Review intake assessments to ensure educational services align with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Coordinate and provide pull-out, push-in, small group, and one-on-one instruction
• Schedule and facilitate Special Education team, IEP, and pre-referral meetings
• Manage the evaluation process, including classroom observations and testing
• Partner with general education teachers to advocate for classroom accommodations
• Work with families to support academic and social-emotional growth
• Maintain student records and ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal laws
• Use assessment data to refine curriculum and instruction
• Collaborate with school leaders to analyze student work trends
• Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel supported

Requirements

• Special Education teaching certification is required
• Academic expertise in Special Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, or related fields
• Demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools
• Commitment to supporting students' social-emotional and academic development
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners
• Self-directed learner capable of implementing feedback
