Special Credits Director

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Special Credits Officers in formulating strategies and presenting recommendations for distressed credit situations.
• Interface with banking teams, borrowers, financial advisors, and outside counsel to negotiate repayment and exposure management.
• Manage the Credit Surveillance process, including valuations for reserving, charge-off analysis, and regulatory reporting.
• Guide the team on deteriorating credits, restructuring credit facilities, and obtaining additional collateral.
• Mentor, coach, and provide ongoing training to support the professional development of the Special Credits team.
• Oversee Credit Officer resources to ensure the timely submission of credit packages and adherence to bank policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• 10+ years of commercial banking or lending experience, including extensive commercial credit expertise.
• Deep knowledge of asset-based lending, accounting, and financial statement analysis.
• Proven experience in employee supervision and leadership.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to act decisively under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a Special Credits, Workout, or Problem Credit role.
• MBA or an advanced professional degree.
