Special Counsel – M&A

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, high-value M&A matters across superannuation, financial services, and funds management
• Provide transactional, advisory, and regulatory advice to major banks, superannuation funds, and investment managers
• Manage superannuation fund mergers, successor fund transfers, and governance design
• Deliver clear, practical advice and draft complex legal documentation to a high standard
• Drive business development initiatives and deepen key client relationships
• Mentor and develop junior lawyers within the practice

Requirements

• Deep financial services experience from a leading law firm, regulator, or in-house legal team
• Strong technical capability in M&A and financial services regulatory matters
• Proven commercial judgement and ability to lead stakeholders with confidence
• Demonstrated track record in business development and client leadership
• Experience in mentoring junior legal professionals
• Valid Australian work rights
