About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide support for the Special Collections & Archives reading room, including welcoming and signing in patrons
- Communicate departmental rules and procedures for handling collection materials
- Monitor the use of collections and assist with pulling and refiling materials
- Assist in the accessioning and processing of rare books and other departmental holdings
- Provide general administrative support for the Department of Special Collections & Archives
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts degree
- 1-3 years of experience in a related field or position
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and discretion
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of or experience with library systems, particularly integrated library systems catalogs
- Experience with archival or library collections management systems
- General familiarity with libraries or archives
- Experience managing office operations or performing administrative support functions
