Special Assistant Professor of U.S. History

Responsibilities

• Deliver an annual teaching load of 18 credit hours, including at least six credit hours focused on public history
• Provide undergraduate classroom instruction and direct student internships
• Build and maintain community partnerships with local museums, archives, and historic sites
• Engage in research and teaching related to public history, material culture, museum studies, or digital history
• Collaborate with faculty, students, and staff to support an inclusive learning environment

Requirements

• Ph.D. in history (required at the time of appointment)
• Demonstrated teaching experience in U.S. public history
• Research experience in material culture, museum studies, or digital history
• Proven ability to engage in community-based historical work

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in 17th–19th century U.S. social, urban, and/or indigenous history
• Experience with digital history methodologies
