Spacecraft Engineer Intern (Flight Software)

Oligo is building a manufacturing-in-the-loop foundation model to automate spacecraft design and production worldwide. Leveraging cutting edge AI-driven generative design and automated manufacturing, our team works to create the most advanced payload-specific spacecraft at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement flight software components within NASA/JPL’s open-source F-prime framework
• Write and debug software for hardware interfaces including sensors, actuators, and radios using I2C, SPI, UART, and Ethernet
• Maintain and extend CMake build systems
• Develop unit tests and support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) testing
• Author Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and technical design notes
• Collaborate with Avionics and Mission Ops to troubleshoot hardware/software interactions
• Research and prototype ML/AI algorithm integration into flight software

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field
• Strong foundational knowledge of C/C++ in an embedded context
• Prior experience with bare-metal programming or an RTOS
• Proficiency in Ubuntu/Linux environments and Git
• Ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with the F-prime framework
• Understanding of the OSI model and networking protocols
• Experience with GTest, PyTest, or CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or multimeters
• Interest in deploying Machine Learning models on edge devices
