About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced avionics PCBA assembly, rework, and testing following IPC standards and safety protocols
  • Execute expert-level troubleshooting and component-level failure analysis on avionics PCBAs
  • Perform precision soldering and rework including SMT, through-hole, BGA/CSP, and micro-miniature components
  • Conduct advanced PCBA repairs such as trace, pad, and via reconstruction
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment like oscilloscopes and multimeters to resolve electrical anomalies
  • Integrate avionics PCBAs into spacecraft systems including flight computers and power distribution units
  • Perform board-level functional testing and communication protocol testing (MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, CAN bus)
  • Execute harness integration and rework including connector installation and wire repair per IPC/WHMA-A-620
  • Collaborate with engineers to resolve technical issues during assembly and integration
  • Maintain accurate records of assembly, rework, and test results using NCR processes
  • Support environmental testing including thermal vacuum, vibration, and shock testing

Requirements

  • U.S. Person status required
  • Minimum 7+ years of aerospace avionics PCBA assembly and troubleshooting experience
  • Expert proficiency in SMT, BGA/CSP, and fine-pitch device soldering per IPC J-STD-001 Space Addendum
  • Demonstrated expertise in trace, pad, and via repair
  • Proficiency in IPC J-STD-001 (Space Applications) and IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills using systematic fault isolation and test equipment
  • Working knowledge of harness integration and crimping per AS13002 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3
  • Experience with ESD controls per ANSI/ESD S20.20 and cleanroom protocols
  • Proficiency with hot air rework stations, BGA rework systems, and stereoscopic microscopes
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents

Preferred Qualifications

  • IPC Specialist or Master level certifications in J-STD-001 and A-610
  • IPC-7711/7721 certification
  • Experience with NASA Class 1 or 2 flight hardware PCBAs
  • Experience with military and aerospace communication protocols
