About the role
Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, expediting service, and directing staff
- Prepare and execute high-quality menu items, including specialty and seasonal offerings, ensuring excellence in taste and presentation
- Ensure timely meal production that meets guest specifications and quality standards
- Maintain strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and food handler requirements
- Monitor proper food handling practices, including temperature control and storage logging
- Coordinate kitchen workflow, staff schedules, and daily opening and closing procedures
- Manage kitchen inventory by monitoring stock levels, freshness, and quality
- Inspect and maintain the cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and storage areas
Requirements
- Secondary School diploma plus specialized culinary arts courses (up to 6 months)
- Minimum of 3 years of formal culinary experience in a busy restaurant or hotel kitchen
- Current, valid Safe Food Handler’s Certification
- Ability to lift and move up to 35 lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to work a flexible rotation including days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Chef de Cuisine (CCC)
