Sous Chef

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, expediting service, and directing staff
• Prepare and execute high-quality menu items, including specialty and seasonal offerings, ensuring excellence in taste and presentation
• Ensure timely meal production that meets guest specifications and quality standards
• Maintain strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and food handler requirements
• Monitor proper food handling practices, including temperature control and storage logging
• Coordinate kitchen workflow, staff schedules, and daily opening and closing procedures
• Manage kitchen inventory by monitoring stock levels, freshness, and quality
• Inspect and maintain the cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and storage areas

Requirements

• Secondary School diploma plus specialized culinary arts courses (up to 6 months)
• Minimum of 3 years of formal culinary experience in a busy restaurant or hotel kitchen
• Current, valid Safe Food Handler’s Certification
• Ability to lift and move up to 35 lbs on a regular basis
• Ability to work a flexible rotation including days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Chef de Cuisine (CCC)
