Sous Chef

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service
• Assist the Chef de Cuisine with menu planning, recipe development, and seasonal adjustments
• Monitor food quality and presentation to meet restaurant standards
• Maintain inventory control, order supplies, and manage food storage
• Enforce kitchen safety and sanitation practices in compliance with health regulations
• Act as restaurant chef in the absence of the Chef de Cuisine
• Develop, train, and supervise line staff
• Cook and prepare food to order and participate on the service line

Requirements

• Culinary degree or equivalent work experience
• ServSafe certification
• 5 years of culinary experience
• Proficient knowledge of high-volume production and food/beverage purchasing
• Familiarity with menu costing, inventory, and ordering
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Ability to work under pressure and multitask effectively
• Proficiency in English; Spanish is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to innovate recipes and adjust menus based on seasonality
• High level of quality control and consistency in food presentation
