Sous Chef

Responsibilities

• Support all phases of culinary operations for Abbott’s corporate dining service program
• Coordinate and participate in the preparation and cooking of various menu items using large-volume cooking and batch processes
• Assist with planning daily menus and updating standardized recipe books
• Manage product ordering, maintain appropriate inventory par levels, and aid in controlling expenditures
• Ensure food products and presentation meet the highest quality standards and are served in a timely manner
• Monitor holding and storage operations, including stocking and food rotation
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation protocols, and health department regulations
• Provide exceptional customer service to employees and guests

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• 4 years of related culinary experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, or similar food service operations
• Strong knowledge of large-volume cooking and batch preparation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift/carry up to 50lbs
• Ability to work in environments with variable temperatures and noise levels

Preferred Qualifications

• ServSafe or Department of Health Manager Certification
• ServSafe Allergan Awareness Certification
• Associate degree in culinary arts
