Sonographer

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of ultrasound examinations including abdominal, obstetric, gynaecological, vascular, and musculoskeletal scans
• Prepare patients for procedures, explain processes, and obtain informed consent
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment and report malfunctions
• Assist in initial interpretation of images and report significant findings to clinicians
• Adhere to quality assurance protocols and health and safety regulations
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
• Work with healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care
• Provide guidance and support to junior sonographers and students
• Participate in clinical research, audit activities, and departmental leadership tasks

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent
• Proficiency in abdomen and pelvic scans
• Proficiency in using ultrasound machines and associated software
• HCPC registration
• 1 year UK experience as a sonographer in NHS and private sectors
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
