Sommelier

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Sommelier and Restaurant Manager in curating and maintaining the wine list
• Guide guests through wine selections with thoughtful, tailored recommendations to enhance the dining experience
• Support staff wine knowledge through regular tastings and educational sessions
• Manage wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, tracking par levels, and ensuring proper storage
• Execute wine pairings for special menus, private events, and promotions
• Oversee the storage and organization of all wine products, adhering to strict temperature standards
• Maintain beverage department policies to control costs while ensuring high-quality presentation and service

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience at a similar level
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a restaurant with recognized high standards
• Workplace training from within a high-standard hotel environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to lift and carry loads weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, and work in an operational environment for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a 5-star, upmarket resort environment
