Solutions Engineer

About the Company

Gigaton is on a mission to cut gigatonnes of carbon emissions from the world’s biggest emitting industries, such as cement, steel, and glass. We build autonomous AI control and optimisation systems that leverage the physics of manufacturing to run heavy industrial plants more efficiently and with lower emissions.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and integrate Gigaton AI into live cement and industrial plants
• Collaborate with plant and process teams to identify optimisation opportunities and tune control loops
• Analyse plant data to evaluate software performance
• Develop and refine control strategies using APC, MPC, and PID principles
• Build trust with process engineers and operators by demonstrating measurable benefits
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers to refine algorithms based on real-world outcomes
• Support deployment playbooks and templates for scalable rollouts
• Act as a feedback link to product and ML teams to shape the roadmap
• Travel to sites approximately one week per month for commissioning and testing

Requirements

• Strong background in process or control engineering (cement, chemicals, energy, or heavy manufacturing)
• Experience with advanced process control (APC/MPC/PID) systems
• Familiarity with industrial automation systems (DCS, PLC, OPC, historian systems)
• Analytical and hands-on mindset for diagnosing process instabilities
• Excellent communication skills for complex industrial environments
• Willingness to travel regularly to deployment sites (~25%)

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of AI/ML applications in process control (forecasting, optimisation, anomaly detection)
• Experience implementing or tuning control systems to balance stability, quality, and energy efficiency
