Solar Technician III

Responsibilities

• Assist site leadership in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
• Lead and mentor technician teams, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and best work practices
• Schedule and execute maintenance plans to minimize downtime and ensure team safety
• Manage CMMS work orders, tracking inspections, schedules, and parts consumption
• Inspect and troubleshoot DC systems, combiner boxes, string performance, and tracker system components
• Perform HV/MV switching, LOTO procedures, and substation battery maintenance
• Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance on substation and collection system equipment using specialized test equipment
• Participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation as needed

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Solar & BESS operations, including High, Medium, and Low Voltage maintenance
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and relevant electrical codes
• Ability to read and interpret protection and control schematics and wiring diagrams
• Experience with circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and collection systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical communication
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
• Physical ability to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with substation and collection system equipment
• Experience interfacing with equipment PLCs to program and troubleshoot performance
• Experience performing root cause analysis for electrical issues
