Soils Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform routine field tests and collect samples on construction sites
• Conduct various field inspections and physical examinations for residential and commercial projects
• Manipulate field equipment including nuclear gauges, shovels, and sledgehammers
• Prepare daily data reports and draft reports for supervisor review
• Navigate uneven terrain and enter/exit trenches using ladders
• Maintain positive business relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and dispatch regarding daily assignments and scope changes
• Care for and maintain assigned company equipment

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED and 1+ years of experience in grading
• OR a degree in Geology or Earth Science
• Valid and current state driver's license
• Possession of a truck, van, or SUV to carry equipment and samples
• Ability to lift and manipulate 25-75 pounds of material/equipment
• Ability to work in adverse weather and construction site conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Nuke Gauge certification
• NAQTC certification
• ICC Soils certification
