Soils Field Inspector

Responsibilities

• Perform routine field tests and collect samples on construction sites
• Conduct inspections for residential and commercial projects
• Manipulate field equipment including nuclear gauges, shovels, and sledgehammers
• Prepare daily data reports and draft reports for supervisor review
• Navigate uneven terrain and enter/exit trenches using ladders
• Maintain positive business relationships with clients and contractors
• Care for and maintain assigned company equipment
• Advise supervisors of changes in work scope or potential budget overruns

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED and 2 years of experience in Grading, OR 1+ years of experience with an Earth Science degree
• Nuclear gauge certification
• ICC Soils certification
• Valid state driver’s license
• Personal vehicle (truck, van, or SUV) to carry equipment and samples
• Ability to lift and manipulate 25-75 pounds of material/equipment
• Ability to work in adverse weather and construction site conditions
