Software Specialist – Database Administrator

Responsibilities

• Develop, operate, and maintain software applications and database systems to support the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant.
• Design and implement robust monitoring, backup, and recovery plans for project databases.
• Implement complex software application programs and reports according to project standards.
• Ensure automated data feeds and system interfaces function as intended.
• Perform maintenance activities including database design, data migration, and script writing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to system interfaces and production software.
• Propose technical solutions to automate manual processes and support continuous improvement efforts.
• Oversee software upgrades in accordance with established software quality procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, or Information Technology (or equivalent experience as specified).
• Proficiency in the Microsoft application suite (Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with SQL and/or Oracle databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in DOE, DOD, or other industrial processing facilities.
• Experience with Linux Operating Systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as ASP, Visual Basic, C++, or C#.
• Experience applying software quality engineering principles for design and testing.
