Software Product Designer (Audio)

Responsibilities

• Translate briefs into design concepts including control sets, signal flow, and workflow logic
• Build functional prototypes to validate workflow assumptions and demonstrate intent to engineering
• Lead listening tests and user validation to iterate on sonic and functional experiences
• Collaborate with Lead DSP Developer to turn algorithmic concepts into high-fidelity musical tools
• Provide quality control by diagnosing issues when audio output does not match mathematical logic
• Define UI behavior and interaction requirements in collaboration with Brand & Product Lead
• Support QA and support teams during test planning, beta feedback loops, and bug triage
• Create presets, user documentation, and lead internal training for new releases

Requirements

• Experience in product design, UX design, or audio software product development
• Significant professional audio experience in production, mixing, mastering, or post-production
• Demonstrable experience designing software UXs from concept to functional specification
• Expert-level experience with DAWs such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live
• Proficiency in audio prototyping environments like Max/MSP, Pure Data, or Python with audio libraries
• Strong understanding of audio signal flow and music production technical principles
• Excellent technical writing skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with plugin development pipelines (JUCE, VST3/AU/AAX)
• Experience conducting formal user research or usability testing
• Working knowledge of DSP concepts like filter design and dynamics
• Experience with Figma
• Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design principles
