About the role
Responsibilities
- Enable "Protocols as Code" by developing and refining Python-based protocols to control liquid handlers, plate readers, and robotic arms
- Assist in the development of Catalyst Agent, an LLM-based interface that allows scientists to launch experiments using natural language
- Work on data pipelines to automatically harvest, structure, and upload experimental data from Reconfigurable Automation Cells (RACs) into the data lake
- Develop device drivers to integrate new hardware instruments into the Catalyst ecosystem
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Interest in laboratory automation and "Lab-in-the-Loop" technologies
- Ability to work onsite five days a week in Emeryville, California
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hardware control or APIs
- Interest in biological data standards
- Experience or interest in applying software skills to physical systems or computational biology
