Software Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and grow a small engineering team through 1:1s, feedback, and career development.
• Act as a player/coach, contributing 30–50% of your time to high-leverage coding, architecture guidance, and code reviews.
• Own delivery execution by managing scope, dependencies, and Scrum rituals to ensure predictable outcomes.
• Partner with Product and Clinical stakeholders to clarify requirements and manage technical tradeoffs.
• Establish and uphold quality and release practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and a clear Definition of Done.
• Drive operational excellence through observability, incident response, postmortems, and infrastructure management.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in people leadership or leading complex technical projects.
• Proven experience building production backend systems using PHP/Laravel and TypeScript/Node.js.
• Experience with cloud environments (Azure preferred) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
• Strong expertise in Scrum/Agile methodologies and delivery management.
• Demonstrated track record of improving production reliability and system observability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare domain experience building products for clinical workflows (scheduling, charting, etc.).
• Experience integrating with EMR/EHR systems or working with healthcare interoperability standards like FHIR/HL7.
• Experience in regulated environments such as HIPAA or ISO 27001.
• Knowledge of asynchronous processing patterns, event-driven architecture, and performance tuning.
