Responsibilities

• Own the data layer including databases, caches, and provisioning strategies
• Design and execute a robust, multi-database topology for rapid growth
• Evolve storage layer into a partitioned, resilient topology
• Build query attribution and guardrails to catch bad patterns before production
• Define data store strategies and golden pathways for product teams
• Own cache infrastructure end-to-end, including reliability and capacity planning

Requirements

• Deep experience with relational databases at scale (Postgres, MySQL, or similar OLTP systems)
• Experience with database sharding, migration, or decomposition in production
• Understanding of tradeoffs between different storage engines
• Focus on operational excellence including backups, monitoring, and query performance
• Strong software engineering fundamentals
