Software Engineer, Production Engineering

Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, automating how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies. We provide tools for authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate critical infrastructure across compute, storage, messaging, and observability stacks
• Drive architectural change and propose solutions for reliability and scalability issues
• Partner with product teams during the design phase to embed golden paths
• Contribute to the transition to a cellular architecture to enable international and enterprise scaling
• Enable AI-native engineering by defining infrastructure patterns for AI-powered products
• Build developer tooling and self-service infrastructure
• Participate in on-call rotations and perform root cause analysis for incidents
• Lead cross-team architectural reviews and company-wide reliability initiatives

Requirements

• 2+ years of software engineering experience shipping high-quality architectures
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and production-ready code skills
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems at production scale
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred)
• Familiarity with observability practices including SLOs, error budgets, and alerting
• Track record of leading technical projects end-to-end
• Comfort using AI tooling and coding agents in engineering workflows

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cellular or multi-tenant architecture patterns
• Prior work on workflow orchestration systems like Temporal
• Contributions to developer experience or internal platform tooling
• Experience in fintech, payments, or regulated industries (FedRAMP, SOC 2)
