Software Engineer - Planning (Sampling/Search)

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and test core path planning capabilities for various aerial platforms, including fighter aircraft and UAVs
• Write software for real autonomous aircraft systems and simulated models to support tactical military missions
• Build and improve aerial autonomy software architectures for deployment on real-world systems
• Collaborate with DoD domain experts and third-party UAS vendors to integrate autonomy software onto OEM hardware

Requirements

• 3-5 years of professional experience in autonomous vehicle motion planning, robotics, or a related field
• Experience in 3D+ path planning using sampling-based methods (e.g., RRT*)
• Experience in 2/2D grid-based planning methods (e.g., A*)
• Proficiency in C++ or Python
• Experience developing or implementing outer-loop control systems
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Must be eligible for a U.S. Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with UAS GNC/navigation systems such as PX4 and Ardupilot
• Ability to use data visualization and debugging tools for autonomy control development
• Experience with Docker, containerized environments, and Linux-based operating systems (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu)
