Software Engineer - Perception (Fallback Stack)

Responsibilities

• Design and implement simulation capabilities and workflows to enable cutting-edge real-world perception system development
• Design perception and uncertainty signals that gate fallback behaviors
• Work closely with sensor simulation and infrastructure teams to build multi-fidelity models and enterprise software
• Deploy production systems that directly impact vehicle safety and ODD expansion
• Build perception capabilities that help autonomous vehicles recognize uncertainty, degradation, and failure

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in AV, robotics, or safety-critical perception systems
• Experience using ML for uncertainty estimation, confidence calibration, or OOD detection
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python and production-grade software practices
• Experience with production-grade ML/DL perception algorithms for autonomous vehicles
• Hands-on experience with middleware, benchmarking suites, data sets, or algorithmic libraries

Preferred Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in perception or a closely related field
• Experience with degraded sensors, adverse weather, or real-world edge cases
• Deep expertise in non-linear optimization, computational geometry, or numerical analysis
• Familiarity with fallback systems, MRM concepts, or safety cases (ISO/SOTIF)
