Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and sustain production services and components using Java and C/C++
• Author and maintain interface documentation, including schemas, contracts, and versioning strategies
• Collaborate with Network Ops, Infrastructure, and Field Engineering teams to diagnose failures in distributed environments
• Develop and maintain build and deployment automation using GitLab CI/CD
• Write unit, integration, and regression tests for critical services and interfaces
• Troubleshoot and correct software discrepancies to maximize system availability
• Participate in on-call rotation or operational support escalations as required

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• 5-12 years of experience in Software Engineering and/or Development
• Strong proficiency in Java, Scala, and/or C/C++ with production-grade experience
• Experience building and supporting distributed, high-availability, or operationally critical systems
• Working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and/or NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD strongly preferred)
• Active Top Secret security clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
• Strong written communication skills for producing design notes, runbooks, and implementation plans

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with systems deployed to remote sites with intermittent connectivity
• Experience with migration and compatibility support across major version transitions
• Familiarity with secure communications patterns (TLS, certificates, key rotation)
• Knowledge of message queues, event-driven patterns, and performance profiling
• Exposure to ELK stack usage patterns for operational troubleshooting and analytics
