Software Engineer & Network Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide integrated Network Technician and Software Engineering support for ICT capabilities within a Defence operational environment
• Deliver operational support and sustainment for the 4SQN ICT fleet to ensure system availability and performance
• Support governance, policy, and compliance activities aligned with Defence requirements and accreditation frameworks
• Conduct Verification and Validation (V&V) and support system integration and interoperability activities
• Manage sustainment and Prove, Test and Evaluate (PT&E) activities for operational and trial ICT capabilities
• Act as a key point of contact for operational ICT support, engaging with Defence stakeholders and industry partners
• Coordinate vendor support, defect management, and technical maintenance activities
• Maintain control of cryptographic material and ensure system conformance and ATO compliance

Requirements

• Experienced ICT professional with expertise in Network Technician and/or Software Engineering within complex Defence environments
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
• Strong knowledge of ICT sustainment, system assurance, governance, and life-cycle management
• Demonstrated experience in V&V, system compliance (e.g., MIL-STD), and Authorities to Operate (ATO)
• Experience working with secure ICT systems and managing cryptographic materials
• Eligibility to hold and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) security clearance
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and advisory outputs
