Software Engineer, Junior

Responsibilities

• Advise the government on software project strategy, direction, and requirements
• Oversee development contractors to ensure project milestones and quality standards are met
• Assist in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of software for scientific applications
• Translate customer requirements into design specifications and collaborate on prototypes
• Utilize Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git for project management
• Identify technical challenges and develop solutions alongside development teams
• Update documentation to establish software product baselines and resolve discrepancies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
• 0-5 years of experience in software development, object-oriented design, and programming
• Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with adjudicated polygraph
• Familiarity with cloud architecture and development
• Familiarity with Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence concepts, tools, and systems
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS and Azure environments
• Basic knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with Postgres, MySQL, or MongoDB
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and container-based application development
• Interest in machine learning or neural networks
