Software Engineer - Infrastructure

About the Company

MotherDuck is on a mission to make data warehousing fun, frictionless, and awesome for developers and data practitioners. We are building a cloud-hosted version of DuckDB, unifying local development with cloud operations to bridge the gap between software and data engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Kubernetes platform, including cluster architecture, upgrades, multi-tenancy, and workload isolation
• Build and maintain infrastructure components using Go and Python across compute, networking, and storage
• Design and improve CI/CD pipelines for safe and fast software delivery
• Implement observability tooling and dashboards to surface system health
• Automate operational workflows to reduce manual intervention
• Collaborate with product and backend teams to embed operational best practices
• Participate in incident response and reliability/security efforts

Requirements

• Hands-on experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, Terraform, service meshes, etc.)
• Programming proficiency in Go and/or Python
• Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
• Strong sense of ownership and pragmatic approach to engineering tradeoffs
• Interest in building internal tools and automation
