Software Engineer in Test

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain a robust, highly scalable test automation framework primarily utilizing Java
• Validate data pipelines, microservices, and asynchronous messaging systems centered around Apache Kafka
• Pick up simple development tickets, minor bug fixes, and application code enhancements
• Conduct system analysis, risk assessment, and test strategy development
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and thoroughly document product defects and architectural issues
• Partner with software engineers and bioinformatics scientists to embed quality into the development process
• Champion new testing methodologies, best practices, and CI/CD integrations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field
• 5+ years of solid test automation experience building frameworks from scratch
• High-level proficiency in Java programming
• Solid experience testing event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka
• Hands-on experience with Java-based automation tools like JUnit, TestNG, Selenium, or REST Assured
• Strong SQL skills for data-driven testing
• Strong Linux expertise and command-line scripting proficiency
• Deep understanding of quality engineering methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of foundational bioinformatics algorithms such as Alignment, Demultiplexing, or Variant Calling
