Software Engineer III - API Platform

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust API gateway and management solutions using Apigee, Kong, Envoy, and Akamai.
• Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity.
• Implement and enforce API security standards, including OAuth, LDAP, SAML, and Kerberos.
• Engineer advanced API traffic management strategies such as rate limiting, throttling, and quota enforcement.
• Integrate comprehensive logging, monitoring, and observability practices using Splunk, Grafana, or Datadog.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver solutions for the API developer community.
• Support platform automation initiatives and cloud-native solution implementations.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years of applied software engineering experience with formal training or certification.
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools.
• Experience designing and managing API Gateway solutions (Apigee, Kong, or Envoy).
• Strong background in microservice architecture and modern API technologies.
• Knowledge of authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, LDAP, SAML, or Kerberos).
• Experience with observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, or Datadog.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills with knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of networking, DNS, cloud connectivity, and edge server operations.
• Knowledge of content delivery networks (CDNs) such as Akamai.
• Experience designing scalable and resilient systems on public cloud platforms like AWS.
• Familiarity with DevOps, Agile, and Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies.
