Software Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex, container-based C4ISR solutions for high-visibility Navy programs
• Work closely with engineers and analysts to brainstorm and implement creative solutions for mission-critical needs
• Define technical direction for projects to ensure alignment with customer requirements and mission goals
• Mentor junior team members on coding standards, best practices, and problem-solving approaches
• Collaborate with team members to test and refine code, ensuring reliability, scalability, and high performance
• Participate in technical design sessions and provide regular updates to stakeholders

Requirements

• Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
• 5+ years of software development experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
• Experience designing and maintaining scalable back-end services and APIs
• Proficiency in Java, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience with Angular for web application development
• Experience with relational database development using PostgreSQL
• Strong communication and organizational skills for working in collaborative, distributed environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in containerized application development using Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with asynchronous messaging frameworks such as Kafka
• Experience with source control systems like Git or Bitbucket
• Familiarity with Agile development principles and practices (SAFe, JIRA)
• Experience supporting Navy programs, NAVWAR, NIWC Pacific, or NIWC Atlantic
• Master of Science in Software Engineering or Computer Science
