Software Engineer II, Integrated Genomics

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a small team of full-stack engineers to design, develop, and maintain software supporting genomic workflows.
• Implement new features and fixes across key platforms, including LIMS, data-archiving pipelines, and internal delivery APIs.
• Build intuitive user interfaces using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Contribute to back-end services using Node.js, Python, and/or Java.
• Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and GitHub-based development workflows.
• Monitor and troubleshoot systems in a data-intensive environment to improve performance and reliability.
• Work with wet-lab scientists to translate research needs into technical solutions.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to increase development speed and code quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related technical field (Master's degree preferred).
• 2+ years of experience building software through professional work, internships, or substantial personal/open-source projects.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience with React is preferred.
• Exposure to back-end development using Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Understanding of REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Comfortable working in a Linux environment and using command-line tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in genomics, bioinformatics, or scientific/healthcare data.
• Experience using AI coding assistants.
