About the role
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a small team of full-stack engineers to design, develop, and maintain software supporting genomic workflows.
- Implement new features and fixes across key platforms, including LIMS, data-archiving pipelines, and internal delivery APIs.
- Build intuitive user interfaces using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Contribute to back-end services using Node.js, Python, and/or Java.
- Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and GitHub-based development workflows.
- Monitor and troubleshoot systems in a data-intensive environment to improve performance and reliability.
- Work with wet-lab scientists to translate research needs into technical solutions.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to increase development speed and code quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related technical field (Master's degree preferred).
- 2+ years of experience building software through professional work, internships, or substantial personal/open-source projects.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Experience with React is preferred.
- Exposure to back-end development using Java, Python, or Node.js.
- Understanding of REST or GraphQL APIs.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment and using command-line tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in genomics, bioinformatics, or scientific/healthcare data.
- Experience using AI coding assistants.
