Software Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Build highly available, secure, distributed systems in a microservice architecture
• Design, develop, test, and maintain systems representing real-world logistics entities like cargo, carriers, and containers
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and business partners to solve complex technical problems
• Build and launch products rapidly, shipping to production dozens of times per day
• Maintain a high-quality bar by obsessing over metrics and applying learnings from post-mortems

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience writing software and a strong engineering background
• 2+ years of design and architecture knowledge, including familiarity with OOA/OOD
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Ruby, C, C++, Java, or Kotlin
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building large-scale, high-performance systems in complex, multi-tiered, distributed environments
• Understanding of performance tradeoffs, load balancing, and operational issues
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices, including continuous deployment and testing
• A bias for action and the ability to convey technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders
