Swoop Technologies is building SwoopOS, a distributed operating system designed to organize and make accessible the world’s military and critical infrastructure. By decomposing equipment into a distributed robotic embodiment, Swoop enables a new generation of autonomous systems and agentic AI to operate in the physical world.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain embedded system firmware including low-level drivers, bootloaders, and OS-critical functions
  • Contribute to OS integration and kernel-level modules to ensure efficient hardware communication
  • Design and implement application-layer features and system services optimized for performance and robustness
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to debug complex issues across firmware, OS, and application boundaries
  • Partner with deployment engineering to solve technical challenges for customer requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in OS/Kernel development, RTOS, Embedded Systems, Microkernel, or Bare Metal development
  • Software development experience in C and Rust
  • Understanding of low-level hardware systems
  • Ability to travel 5-20%
  • Active US Security clearance or willingness to be sponsored for one

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microcontrollers, SoC, device drivers, or hardware bring-up
  • Experience with ARM processors, x86 assembly, or FPGAs
  • Familiarity with power management, file systems, or bootloading
  • Understanding of clocks, timing, and processor instructions
  • Familiarity with serial protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, or USB
  • Knowledge of systems engineering and distributed systems
