Software Engineer - Data Platform

MAI is on a mission to democratize advanced advertising technology using AI agents to automate and optimize performance marketing. Founded by veterans from Google and Instacart, the company recently raised $25 million in Seed funding led by Kleiner Perkins to build an AI-native product from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the company’s data platform, covering both batch and streaming pipelines
• Design, implement, and maintain robust ETL/ELT processes for marketing and advertising platforms
• Define and standardize core data models, base tables, and schemas
• Implement data governance, access control, and security practices
• Optimize data storage, retrieval, and query performance
• Partner with ML engineers and product teams to ensure data availability
• Build and maintain real-time data streaming infrastructure
• Develop monitoring, alerting, and validation frameworks

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
• Strong experience with data pipelines (Spark, Beam, Flink, Kafka, or Pub/Sub)
• Proficiency with SQL and data schema design
• Hands-on experience with data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift)
• Familiarity with integrating data from third-party APIs
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• Understanding of data security and governance practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with real-time streaming and event-driven architectures
• Knowledge of workflow orchestration tools like Airflow
• Familiarity with distributed storage systems (Bigtable, HBase, Cassandra)
• Experience building marketing data pipelines (GAQL, Ads APIs)
• Exposure to ML feature store design
