Software Engineer | Data Platform

Responsibilities

• Lead the evolution and rearchitecture of Rolodex, Gecko's central data platform, to support a growing facility context graph.
• Deliver clear ontologies, predictable APIs, and core developer tooling such as SDKs to enable AI agent workflows.
• Own the evolution of centralized permissioning systems to create a frictionless security experience for developers.
• Design and optimize query abstractions, including indexing and SQL/GraphQL, for heavy data workloads.
• Establish productized patterns for cross-cutting data needs like schemas, data modeling, and pipelines.
• Automate cloud infrastructure using Terraform and build self-serve tooling to eliminate engineering toil.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on software development experience in a production environment.
• Expertise in backend infrastructure, databases, or developer tooling.
• Experience designing secure, user-friendly APIs.
• Ability to own and execute long-lived technical projects and contribute to critical architectural decisions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for Developer Experience (DevEx).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building, maintaining, or scaling central datastores, knowledge graphs, or shared data platforms.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and managing cloud deployments in GCP or AWS.
• Familiarity with complex authorization and permissioning systems.
• Strong judgment regarding data modeling, storage formats, and access patterns.
• Understanding of data pipelines and data processing infrastructure.
