Software Engineer - Data Platform

Basic Capital is a fintech company disrupting America’s $1T retirement industry by building the mortgage for retirement, unlocking market ownership, and making wealth accessible to every American. Our founding team includes leaders from Goldman Sachs, Uber, Block, Stripe, and Robinhood.

Responsibilities

• Act as the founding member of the Data & Reporting team
• Design and build data pipelines that transform raw operational data into actionable insights
• Own the automation of critical compliance reporting, notices, and regulatory submissions
• Develop and maintain customer-facing reporting systems including monthly account statements and performance analytics
• Build and maintain data warehouse infrastructure to ensure data quality and accessibility
• Participate in architecture discussions, planning, and code reviews

Requirements

• Strong experience with data pipeline development and ETL/ELT workflows
• Proficiency with SQL and data model design for analytics
• Experience with modern data warehouse platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift) and dbt
• Experience with data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Hex, or Metabase)
• Proficiency in one of the following: Kotlin, Rust, Java, Go, C/C++, Python, Ruby, or TypeScript
• Experience with modern build systems and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Strong attention to detail regarding data accuracy for compliance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in fintech or early-stage technology companies
• Understanding of financial data, ledgers, and accounting principles
• Experience working in Kotlin backends
• Experience with Temporal for asynchronous workflow orchestration
