Software Engineer - Data Plane Management

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the provisioning and ongoing management of the Astro compute platform
• Manage Kubernetes infrastructure and cloud resources that support customer workloads
• Translate product requirements into customer-facing features and APIs
• Identify platform weaknesses through incident reviews and develop solutions to minimize recurrence
• Work with critical real-world production systems across multiple cloud providers

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Foundational understanding of distributed systems and microservice architecture
• Knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, TLS, and HTTP
• Exposure to backend programming languages, such as Go, through projects or internships
• Familiarity with software development best practices including code reviews, testing, and version control
• Experience leveraging AI coding assistants and LLMs to accelerate development

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship or co-op experience in a software engineering role
• Hands-on experience with Go or Linux
• Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience with Kubernetes for platform management
• Familiarity with Apache Airflow or related workflow orchestrators
• Contributions to open source projects
