Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Partner with credit risk, legal, compliance, and product managers to advance Lending capabilities
• Lead or contribute to projects from hypothesis through to production
• Build financial primitives and API-level building blocks for the Block intelligence layer
• Design clean APIs optimized for uptime, latency, regulatory compliance, and cost
• Operate and manage existing Cash services
• Contribute to engineering practices, interviewing, and the broader tech community

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working on complex systems and delivering quality software
• Experience with agentic engineering and an AI-first development mentality
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and work within a transparent DRI/IC model
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and fix flaws in complex systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java or Kotlin
• Experience with AWS and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture and Kafka
• Knowledge of distributed databases like MySQL, DynamoDB, or Redis
