Software Engineer - Backend (Platform)

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance, reliable, mission-critical software used to send commands to satellites
• Take full ownership of features, working across both backend and infrastructure domains
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define software requirements, architectures, and designs
• Build core components and services that power the wider software organization to enable speed and reliability
• Continuously assess the evolving tech landscape and advocate for innovations to improve systems
• Mentor teammates, share knowledge, and help raise the overall technical bar

Requirements

• 2-5 years of professional experience as a software engineer
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Experience with distributed systems and microservice architectures
• Experience and understanding of databases such as Postgres
• Experience and understanding of pub/sub and streaming systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Flink)
• Track record of delivering high-impact features in a collaborative environment
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual per export regulations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes
• Experience introducing metrics and monitoring to increase system stability
• Proficiency in C++, Go, or Rust
• Experience building fleet management systems
